The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

Musculoskeletal Team

The children's physiotherapy outpatient service is based in the Child Therapy Department on A Floor of Clarendon Wing.

We offer musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapy for babies, toddlers, children and teenagers who may be born with a condition, develop a problem or have an injury or accident that requires them to need rehabilitation.

We treat patients with the following conditions:

  • Following fracture or dislocation
  • General joint pain
  • Back pain
  • Slipped Upper Femoral Epiphysis (SUFE)
  • Perthes disease
  • Osgood-schlatters disease
  • Hypermobility
  • Juvenile idiopathic arthritis
  • Marfans syndrome
  • Growing pains
  • Torticollis
  • Obstetrical Brachial Plexus Lesion / Erbs Palsy
  • Talipes (club foot)

We can help to improve mobility, increase muscle strength, increase muscle flexibility, restore range of movement, provide advice on returning to sports, help prevent re-injury and assistance on returning to activities our patients enjoy.

Patients are referred to our team from consultants within Leeds Children's Hospital.

We also work in specialist out-patient clinics with the rheumatology and orthopaedic teams providing assessment, treatment and advice at the start of a patients journey.

If you have an outpatient appointment with us please ensure your child brings a pair of shorts to allow a thorough examination.

Lead physiotherapists in the team are Dawn Wills, Emma Bowers and Ruth Madley. They can be contacted via email:
