Late effects of cancer treatment team (childhood / young adult treatments)
This team provides care and support for people who:
- have had cancer or any other condition treated by a cancer specialist during childhood or as a young adult;
- have had a non-cancerous illness which required a bone marrow transplant during childhood or as a young adult; and
- have completed their treatment.
Many cancer treatments put patients at risk of developing problems later on in life. The late effects team discuss the possible late effects of the treatment an individual has had and will monitor this by the most appropriate method of follow up.
Follow up aims to minimise these effects by providing expert advice, guidance and support.
