Sir Mark Sedwill visits Leeds Teaching Hospitals
Friday 15th February 2019
Leeds Teaching Hospitals was delighted to welcome the head of the civil service Sir Mark Sedwill who made a special visit to St James's Hospital to find out more about our apprenticeships and take a tour of our digital ward.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals is the top employer of apprentices in the NHS and Sir Mark was keen to find out more about the opportunities offered by an apprenticeship and the challenges it brings for people taking this route.
Sir Mark held a round table discussion with a number of our apprentices, including colleagues on new informatics apprenticeships and clinical staff on the leadership and management course, to find out more.
The second part of Sir Mark's tour was to visit J23 - known as 'the digital ward' - to find out more about the fantastic work to fully digitise our clinical areas. He received a demonstration of our leading edge Scan4Safety initiative and an introduction to systems including PPM+, The Leeds Digital Way, and Leeds Care Record.
