|Special Interests||Clinical interests: My main clinical roles are anaesthesia for cardiac surgery and thoracic surgery, and cardiac intensive care medicine. I also undertake anaesthesia for a wide range of other types of surgery.
Educational roles: I am an appraiser and mentor for consultant colleagues, and an educational supervisor for anaesthetic trainees.
Patient safety: I undertaking serious incident investigations in order to learn and share lessons to improve care. With a group of colleagues, I have recently put together a lecture series on human factors in healthcare to help improve patient safety further. I am also a member of the steering group which is implementing national safety and quality standards in the anaesthetic department.
Representative roles: I am a British Medical Association representative and member of the Local Negotiating Committee for doctors working within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. I am also the subspecialty lead for cardiac anaesthesia.
