Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Alan Paul include:
Benign prostatic hyperplasi
I am a consultant urologist at Spire Leeds Hospital and Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.
I graduated with a MBChB (1985) and MD (1999) at the University of Edinburgh and spent five years in higher training in urology in Manchester (Intercollegiate Fellowship in Urology, 1998).
My MD was in the molecular biology of neurotrophic hormones and APUD cells in benign and malignant prostate diseases. My current research interests are in renal and bladder cancer molecular and cellular biology. My clinical research has largely been in the investigation of haematuria (blood in the urine).
I continued these interests and my surgical interests are in haematuria investigation, general urology and radical surgery for kidney, bladder and prostate cancers. I predominantly perform open surgery but I am developing an interest in laparoscopic surgery for cancer of the urinary tract.
