Practical information
What can I bring with me?
Everyone likes to bring something with them to cheer up the patient, however, different parts of the hospital have different rules (depending on the condition of the patients). Flowers are welcome in most but not all areas so please check with the ward sister first before bringing in gifts.
We would certainly advise NOT to bring expensive items into hospital for patients as these can be misplaced or lost by patients.
How can I recognise different types of hospital staff?
All staff in the Hospital are required to wear a badge at all times which looks like this:
It states upon it their name and job title.
Most of our staff wear a uniform. You can see photos of all our nurses uniforms here.
I’m not from the area - is there accommodation?
There is limited hospital accommodation available for the family of critically ill people who are from outside of the area. We do make a minimal charge for this accommodation and it is provided to those in most need first. Please enquire on the ward about whether this option might be available for you.
Leeds has very many hotels and bed and breakfasts, from 5 star to cheap and cheerful, details of these can be found at:
