New process for obtaining CSU Research Lead Approval
There is now a new process for the assessment of capacity and capability of research studies conducted at LTHT. This process is a trust wide process and will replace all existing mechanisms to obtain CSU approval.
You must now complete the LTHT Research Study Capacity and Capability Assessment Form which is available on the R&I web pages at http://www.leedsth.nhs.uk/assets/Uploads/Capability-Application-Form-v1.0-01.09.2017.docx and submit to your CSU for review and approval.
A completed and signed copy of this form must be submitted to LTHT R&I as evidence of CSU confirmation that there is capacity and capability within the CSU to deliver the study. Supplementary CSU specific feasibility paperwork may still be used locally to aid decision making but only this form will be accepted by LTHT R&I.

Three more HRA eLearning modules go live
The modules, which are aimed at anyone involved in designing, undertaking or reviewing such research – including R&D staff, sponsors and research ethics committee members – focus on:
- research involving human tissue
- research involving exposure to ionising radiation
- confidentiality and information governance considerations in research.
The modules form half of a suite of six we have developed this year, the other three – medical devices, research involving participants lacking mental capacity, and use of the HRA Schedule of Events – have already been released.
