VIVA Project

The VIVA Project is designed to promote, develop & maintain a culture change in services for those affected by cancer; a change to enhance the patient experience.

VIVA stands for Voices, Information, Volunteers & Arts.

Voices (Patient and carer involvement)

The Viva project is designed to involve service users in improving and shaping cancer services. As part of this, we have a patient and carer involvement group called the Leeds Cancer Partnership Group, who are working together to improve cancer services in Leeds . Information

Patient access to relevant and timely good quality information is vital. Part of the Viva project is to work closely with Information, care and support services to ensure there is good access to information and that it is of the highest quality.

Volunteers

Volunteers enhance the patient experience in a number of ways. For example, we have volunteers meeting and greeting at the entrance to Bexley Wing. The meet and greet volunteers welcome visitors to the wing and help people to find their way by aiding with directions or accompanying them to the department they are going to. We also have Information service volunteers who work in the Information, care and support rooms to assist patients and visitors with finding the information they require. Arts

Viva also looks at individual arts projects that will enhance the patient environment and experience. For example, we have had live music performances on the wards, a writer in residence project and will shortly have a patient cinema.
