24/02/10 EGFR mutation testing has changed from direct sequencing to a more sensitive Scorpion-Arms test.
29/0/10 EGFR mutation testing for sensitivity and resistance to Gefitinib has started at the laboratory.
8/11/10 We now have an email for the duty scientist - Cytogenetics@leedsth.nhs.uk. Please send any test requests and queries about samples to his email.
1/5/10 A new image capture system has been installed at the laboratory which takes images of metaphases in preparation for analysis. This should improve reporting times and increase efficiency in the laboratory.
1/12/09 An MLPA test for microdeletions is now to be carried out instead of FISH on all query microdeletion cases. See molecular cytogenetics section for more details.
3/04/09 As of the 1st May 2009, post will no longer be delivered to the Cytogenetics Laboratory on a Saturday. Please try to avoid sending samples if they are likely to arrive in the post on a Saturday.
12/7/08 The cytogenetics laboratory expanded to the first and second floors of the Clinical Genetics building, Ashley Wing. Clinical Genetics moved to the Algernon Firth Building, LGI.
1/9/07 The array CGH service has started this month. This is a limited service for consitutional bloods.
1/2/07 We are developing an MLPA service for subtelomeric regions
5/6/06 The user manual for Qf-PCR has now been added to the site. As usual there is a PDF version in the downloads section for printing.
