The Leeds Teaching Hospital win the European Supply Chain Excellence Award

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust got some healthy results at the annual European Supply Chain Excellence Awards for 2009 this week. The Trust won the category of 'Public Sector, Services & Utilities' and was praised by the judges as a 'sector changing project'. The awards this year broke all records – more entries than ever before, more companies making it to the shortlist, and more people at the Awards dinner than ever before. In fact, the event was a sell-out – filling the Ballroom at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London's Mayfair.

The record attendance saw the Trust's Head of Supplies Chris Slater and e-Business manager Graham Medwell receive the award on Thursday 12th November 2009 from the legendary television journalist Jonanthan Dimbleby. The Trust picked up the award for its procurement e-Enablement project. Launched four years ago, it was designed to revitalise the Trust's procurement process to give it greater control, cut paperwork and improve its bargaining position with suppliers by putting the process online.

Chris Slater said: "Congratulations are in order for all those who have worked on the project and made it such a success.
