Neuro Developmental Team
Inpatient
The team provide assessment, advice and treatment for babies at risk of developmental delay born on our neonatal units here at the Leeds Children's Hospital and at St James's Hospital. The physiotherapists provide tailored positioning and handling advice along with their Occupational Therapy colleagues. Children with musculoskeletal, neurological or genetic conditions may also be seen by the therapy team.
Developmental input is also provided for children with complex needs on any of the wards up to the age of 16 years.
Outpatient
Ongoing neurodevelopmental input is provided for Leeds babies following discharge from the neonatal unit up to the age of 2 years. Babies from areas outside Leeds will be referred to their local therapy team if appropriate. The physiotherapists also provide input to the specialist baby massage groups held at the child development centre at St James's. If appropriate the team can provide therapy in the home.
The team is led by Gemma King who can be contacted on 0113 3926610 or via email at Gemma.King7@nhs.net
