Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy for colorectal cancer can be given:

- after surgery - the aim is to remove all traces of the cancer from the body reducing the chances of the cancer coming back in the future
- before surgery - the aim is to shrink the cancer to increase the chances of successful surgery
- when the cancer cannot be cured by surgery chemotherapy - the aim is to control the cancer and to help with symptom management
