Beads of courage

As part of your child's journey through their cancer treatment, they will be entitled to participate in 'The Beads of Courage' programme. This Charity-sponsored initiative helps you and your child record their cancer treatment journey.

Every department in Leeds NHS Hospital Trust that your child comes into contact with has a special designated bead. Your child is entitled to a bead for every intervention they undergo. Each bead has a special meaning.

Examples of the beads are shown above; radiotherapy beads are a variety of colours and they glow in the dark! 

Your child can collect the beads to show them the journey they have been on through their cancer treatment.
