The Optometry department in conjunction with the Ophthalmology department is involved in various research projects at present including:

DERBY study -  Research into drug therapy for patients with Non exudative (dry) maculopathy. Members of the Optometry team are certified Investigators of Visual Acuity measurement

MATE study - Research into drug therapy for patients with Exudative (wet) maculopathy using the drug Aflibercept as standard treatment versus treat and extend. Members of the Optometry team are certified Investigators of Visual Acuity measurement

PANDA study - Research into drug therapy for patients with Exudative (wet) maculopathy. Members of the Optometry team are certified Investigators of Visual Acuity measurement

RAVEN study - Research into drug therapy for patients with Macular oedema due to Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion. Members of the Optometry team are certified Investigators of Visual Acuity measurement

RHINE study - Research into drug therapy for patients with Diabetic Macular Oedema. Members of the Optometry team are certified Investigators of Visual Acuity measurement

SCOPE study - Research into drug therapy for patients with Non exudative (dry) maculopathy. Members of the Optometry team are certified Investigators of Visual Acuity measurement

TENAYA study - Research into drug therapy for patients with Exudative (wet) maculopathy. Members of the Optometry team are certified Investigators of Visual Acuity measurement

THROMBO study - Research into drug therapy for patients with Diabetic Macular Oedema. Members of the Optometry team are certified Investigators of Visual Acuity measurement

VICI study - Research into drug therapy for patients with Central Serous Retinopathy. Members of the Optometry team are certified Investigators of Visual Acuity measurement

XOLARIS study - Research into Retinitis Pigmentosa. Members of the Optometry team are certified Investigators of Microperimetry, Visual Acuity and Contrast Sensitivity measurement.
