Examination of a fixed and stained blood film can be an essential part of a haematological investigation.

Additional Information Aged samples will be unsuitable for film examination due to cellular degeneration caused by EDTA. Maximum acceptable time for add on requests: Inpatient = 8hours, Outpatient/GP = upto 24hours but this may compromise the report
