Aqueous extracts of faeces can be used for the measurement of alpha-1-antitrypsin as a guide to the extent of protein loss into the gut as indicated in protein losing enteropathy

Additional Information A positive result is useful in confirming protein-losing enteropathy and monitoring the progress of disease, however a negative result does not exclude protein-losing enteropathy.

Send to Samples should be sent to the department of Clinical Immunology at LGI who will refer to appropriate referral lab.
