Additional Information Excessive androstenedione production may occur in PCOS, idiopathic hirsutism, ovarian and adrenal neoplasms, and CAH due to 21-hydroxylase or 17-beta-hydroxylase deficiencies. Measurements are useful in monitoring treatment of CAH patients.
