Renin is secreted from the kidney and converts angiotensinogen to angiotensin. The latter stimulates aldosterone production.

Collection Con | Renin is activated when on ice which invalidates the test. Send to the laboratory ASAP but NOT on ice. Please use a red bag to ensure prompt attention. NOTE the tube required for this test is heparin without gel. (Green and black top) EDTA tube also acceptable. Instructions for lab staff: Sample must be separated and frozen within 4 hours of receipt. |
