Viral Neonatal fever: Samples for diagnosis by PCR

Neonatal infections are classified as occuring before an infant is 3 months old. Infections may be contracted from transplacental transfer, perinatally during delivery or by other means after birth. There are a number of viral agents that are implicated in neonatal infection; Herpes simplex virus (HSV), Adenovirus, Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epstein Barr Virus (EBV), Varicella zoster virus (VZV) and enterovirus
Tube | EDTA samples are required. Faeces samples may be tested for the presence of enterovirus only. |
