The Innovation Village is a one of the most exciting UK investment opportunities for health and innovation. It will be born out of five hectares of land and existing buildings, unlocked by the building of the two new hospitals to develop a world-class hub for research, innovation and technology in health and life sciences. At the UKREiiF conference, the Trust is seeking to explore partnership opportunities with investors and developers to help bring its ambitious vision to life.
The design by architects Perkins&Will for the two new hospitals in a single building - a new adults’ hospital and a new home for Leeds Children’s Hospital as well as the UK’s largest single site maternity centre - was recently unveiled and work has almost finished clearing the site ahead of construction. These two new hospitals are part of the Department’s New Hospitals Programme commitment to deliver 40 new hospitals by 2030
James Goodyear, Director of Strategy at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “We’re thrilled to be recognised by UKREiiF as one of the most exciting investment opportunities in the UK and we’re looking forward to sharing the ideas we have for the future of health innovation with attendees. There’s no doubt this is set to be a crucial year for the development of our hospitals and the creation of a new Innovation Village at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI), and we can’t wait to showcase the far-reaching health and economic benefits this exciting regeneration plan will bring.”
UKREiiF’s Director Amanda Griffiths, said: “We’re excited to have the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust on board with UKREiiF and believe they’ll play an instrumental role in helping us accelerate inclusive development Leeds with their major new project. Their plans for the two new hospitals will open up a world of opportunity for those involved and we’re ready to have them showcase everything they’ve got planned exclusively for our delegates.”
