The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

St James’s specialists back Love Your Liver event

14 January 2014

Specialist liver doctors and nurses from St James’s University Hospital are backing the British Liver Trust’s Love Your Liver campaign by helping staff a pop-up clinic in Hunslet on Thursday 16 January.

The event, in the car park of the Morrisons store, on Church Street LS10 2AP, takes place from 10am to 4pm. It is one of a series of profile-raising roadshows organised by the British Liver Trust.

Staff from Leeds Teaching Hospitals will be joining other NHS colleagues offering expert advice as well as giving people the chance to have their liver scanned.

In the 2013 campaign around 22% of people scanned had some degree of early liver damage and were encouraged to go to their doctor for more tests.

Love Your Liver aims to encourage the whole nation to take Three Simple Steps to good liver health:

1) Take 2-3 days off alcohol every week and drink safely when you do
2) Cut down on sugary and fatty foods
3) Get regular exercise.
