Media Statement - Closure of coffee bar at Wharfedale Hospital

Craige Richardson, Director of Estates and Facilities at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said:

“We really appreciate the commitment and dedication of the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) and volunteers who have supported this service at Wharfedale Hospital. We would like to thank them for their valuable contribution and will continue to work with them to identify alternative roles so that they can continue to support the hospital if they would like to.

The contract we hold with RVS is due to finish at the end of March. So that we can ensure we’re making the best use of Trust resources, reluctantly we have decided that it is not sustainable to continue with both the coffee bar and the restaurant.

We are always looking to improve our services and will work with staff, patients and visitors to ensure that the restaurant at Wharfedale Hospital will continue to provide a varied range of refreshments and meals.”
