26 July 2021
Paul Jones, Chief Digital Information Officer at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, has been appointed as Vice-Chair for Digital Health’s CIO Advisory Panel.
The CIO Advisory panel is responsible for setting direction for the CIO Network, providing an independent, nationally elected voice for local NHS digital leaders.
The CIO Network is the only independent CIO body in the UK, convened and hosted by Digital Health Intelligence, working alongside the CCIO and CNIO Networks to promote development and share best practice across the NHS IT and digital health leader community.
Paul will work closely with Panel Chair Lisa Emery, CIO, Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and joint Vice-Chair, Darren McKenna, CIO, Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust.
Commenting on his appointment, Paul said “National and regional engagement is an essential part of our IT strategy in Leeds, so I’m delighted to be appointed as one of two Vice-Chairs for the Panel. This is a really important opportunity to represent our CIO colleagues at a national level, allowing us to collectively influence and shape digital policy at its inception. This will allow us to make constructive decisions, ensuring any policy that hits the front line is easy to deliver and understand.”
Jon Hoeksma, CEO of Digital Health, added: “Paul brings great depth of knowledge and experience to the CIO Advisory Panel and will greatly strengthen the ability of the group to speak on behalf of local NHS IT leaders.”
Paul is also Chief Information Officer for the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership Digital Programme, supporting the enablement of digital technologies at a regional level.
