Celebrating Admin at LTHT - My Life in Admin - Angela Clark-McCabe
25 April 2023
Name: Angela Clark-McCabe
Job role: Clerical Officer
CSU: Bronchoscopy Unit, Respiratory Medicine
Time with NHS/LTHT: 2.8 years
Roles I have held so far in NHS:
Clerical Officer and
Healthcare Assistant in Ophthalmology
My proudest moment in my job is:
Receiving feedback from consultants that patients have said I have helped them to understand their tests and what is happening to them.
What I do makes a difference to patients by:
I explain to patients about their procedures over the telephone and what to expect when they arrive on the day.
You wouldn’t know this about me:
That I have Cerebral Palsy
Where did my career begin and how did I get to my current job?
I have always been in the care sector to some degree either as a Healthcare assistant or in an administration capacity since my early twenties.
I worked in the private sector for seventeen years before returning to the NHS in 2020. I applied for this role as I still wanted to be involved in patient care but due to my disability I could not longer work as a Healthcare assistant.
What did I learn on my journey/top tips?
Do not let having a disability stop you doing whatever you believe in.
What’s next for me?
Continuing in my role and loving my job.
