The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

Leeds Institute for Minimally Invasive Therapy (LIMIT)

The LIMIT suite is a multi-professional training facility providing state of the art facilities including a simulation lab and educational tools to enable teams and individual candidates to achieve their full potential. Candidates come from all over the Yorkshire and Humberside area and range from medical students to experienced teams wanting to update their skills. We have specialised tailored courses to meet national standards criteria and also provide insitu training throughout the trust. We are based in the Clinical Practice Centre, Ashley wing at St James’s University Hospital, Leeds.

The Leeds Clinical Skills and Simulation Training Centre is based within the Medical Education Department, Clinical Practice Centre (CPC) at St James University Teaching Hospital. As the largest NHS education centres in the North of England we accommodate the support and development of multi-professional education at a local, regional and national level.  The centre is accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) and is well known in both national and international spheres, for the creation and continuation of the award winning National Urology Boot camp. The first Obstetric and Gynaecology Bootcamp has been created and delivered this year, with numerous specialities in planning to follow suit and offer Regional Bootcamps.

We work in close partnership with Higher Education England (HEE) and the University of Leeds for some of our course provision, and can offer a range of high and low fidelity skills labs, provision of a Virtual Reality simulation, a laparoscopic suite for clinical practice, and in-situ support to a variety of clinical and teaching areas around the Trust using state of the art manikins, or simulated patients. Regional training is welcomed and delivered in Leeds with the support of our experienced technical team. We also work alongside enthusiastic LTHT consultants and trainees creating bespoke training, which may be provided as a one off session, developed into regular training or supported innovative curriculum delivery. If you would like to book into our VR room please use the following link: https://medicaleducationleeds.simplybook.it/v2/
