A 25 person Trust-wide COVID 19 research delivery team of research nurses and clinical trials assistants is now providing a 7 day service to help clinical teams identify and recruit patients for COVID19 research studies. By doing so, we are giving our patients the opportunity to take part in randomised controlled trials of novel therapies for the treatment of COVID19.
The Respiratory and Infectious Diseases medical teams have been providing outstanding medical support to assess patient eligibility and help with the consent process, but as things get busier clinically at LTHT we are asking if other medically qualified staff (consultant or middle grade) could help us with this? Specifically we are looking for doctors, ideally with clinical research experience, who are less involved in front line clinical duties for the following help:
Willing to read the protocols of COVID19 research studies open at LTHT and take phone calls/emails from the research nurses to discuss eligibility and any other medical queries
Willing to help with the consent process (we are moving to nurse led consent but the team are still being trained and approved for this) on the inpatient wards
If you are able to help with either, please contact the COVID19 LTHT Research Delivery team via text or call on their new mobile phone number 07557326811 or email them on firstname.lastname@example.org
The above phone number/email can also be used to refer patients for consideration of study recruitment- we have a number of studies now open- we will be sharing details about them in our next update.
With many thanks for your support, the LTHT R&I triumvirate.
To help teams identify which patients might be suitable for inclusion in one of the research studies we’re running, we have put together information pages for each trial on our COVID-19 web page, this includes a brief summary, treatment information and patient criteria.
