The document Coronavirus Managers Guide for Recording and Reporting Staff Absence and Staff Testing provides a brief guide for recording associated absences from work and contacts with possible and confirmed cases whilst at work. Healthcare worker exemption from isolation process [Updated 05/04/2022]
All healthcare workers who are fully vaccinated and have been in contact with someone with Covid-19 can return to work if they have:
- a negative Covid PCR test and then;
- daily pre-shift lateral flow tests for the duration of what would be the 10-day isolation period.
We would also encourage all staff to continue doing pre-shift lateral flow tests twice weekly.
Line managers are asked to ensure that for all staff who are Covid contacts complete the risk assessment below and email to the staff tracker team. stafftrackandtrace@nhs.net
Each CSU is asked to ensure that staff members who have a Covid contact follow the guidance in this document and are responsible for ensuring that the staff member does not work with vulnerable patients and for ensuring PCR result is negative and daily pre-shift lateral flow tests are negative.

Alternative duties
For staff whose usual work is not currently required as fully as normal, they may be asked to support other roles within the Trust to ensure front line services can continue, or may be asked to support alternative, valuable tasks either from their usual place of work, from home, or remotely from other Trust locations. These duties may be different to those you usually perform within your ‘normal’ working week, however will still be of great value to your team, department and the Trust.
The suggestions outlined in the document here have been developed to help you to consider and manage your team's workload.
To learn more on roles currently available in the organisation for staff seeking alternative short term roles please see our Meaningful work - jobs board Webpage.
