Construction and Engineering Schemes affecting the LGI site, 2016-17

27th September 2016

Please be aware that works will be starting shortly on both the refurbishment of the Generating Station and strengthening of the Inner Ring Road tunnel Projects.

The first part of the generating Station refurbishment is to bring in a new, larger, electrical supply to the LGI which will increase the sites capacity and replace cables. The main effect of this part of the works will be major works on Clarendon Way.

These two major schemes, in addition to University projects affecting the Worsley and The Light Buildings, will begin to have significant implications for the LGI site, and the movement of vehicular traffic around it.

Works will commence approx Monday 10th October. Clarendon Way will be closed near the Generating Station for approximately 4 months. Once this first phase of excavation is complete diversions will be in place to allow a section of Little Woodhouse Street to close for a further 4 months whilst works to strengthen the Inner Ring Road are carried out.

Delivery routes and traffic flow will be subject to local alteration to allow the site to function accordingly but measures have been put in place to ensure all necessary activity will carry on with minimal disruption. Please be aware of local signage for directional information.

Logistical planning is underway involving colleagues from Estates and Facilities, Leeds City Council and the University of Leeds.

This work is necessary to improve the resilience of the site and patients may wish to allow a little extra travel time to the site during this period.

Estates and Facilities apologise for the inconvenience this will cause.

Should you have any concerns regarding travel to and from the Leeds Dental Institute, please contact us.
