National Patient Surveys

The National Inpatient Surveys is part of a national mandatory programme coordinated by the CQC. National surveys are used to find out about the experience of patients receiving care and treatment and to identify areas for improvement.
The CQC will use results from patient surveys in the regulation, monitoring and inspection of NHS trusts in England. Survey data will be used in CQC’s Insight, which provides inspectors with an assessment of performance in areas of care within an NHS trust that need to be followed up.
