How to Support Children with Cancer and theiR parents during the COVID-19 outbreak?: understanding experiences, information and support needs, and decision-making – the SHARE study
Summary
The aim of this study is to
- Explore the experiences, information and support need and decision making for children and their families (especially their parents) undergoing cancer treatment during the Covid-19 pandemic
- To explore how these change over time as the situation with Covid-19 develops
Priority
This is a study which is considered a national priority.
Treatment
As an observational study, treatment will be standard care. Participants will be asked to complete an on-line survey which will be repeated 2 and 6 months later.
A small number of patients will be offered an intervention called iHOPE which has been designed to reduced anxiety associated with clinical decisions. For these participants, they will be required to complete questionnaires on-line before they receive iHOPE and then again two months later.
Who can participate?
Patients will be eligible if they are
- Parents of child with cancer aged between 0 and 18 years and is able to read and respond in English
- Children and young people aged between 12 and 25 years who are able to read and respond in English
