On Thursday 19th October, our Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust’s Innovation Pop Up was delighted to welcome ten MedTech companies, visiting as part of a Swiss Med Tech Trade Mission to the Leeds Innovation Arc.
Our recent work with the Department of Business and Trade (DoBT), Switzerland, to develop international collaborations with the emerging Swiss Med Tech sector, culminated in the Pop Up team leading a ‘mini expo’ event held at the Gilbert Scott building. The objective was to stimulate discussions on new pilot/clinical study opportunities. Featuring a series of ‘pitching’ activities and key speakers, the invite list included our clinicians and nurses working in those clinical areas covered by the ten companies comprising the Swiss MedTech cohort.
Showcasing the Innovation ecosystem that is developing in the Leeds City Region, the Innovation Pop up event provided these companies insights into accessing the UK healthcare market, , pitch their technology and receive vital feedback, whilst enabling our clinicians the opportunity to build new industry relationships The Swiss MedTech companies included; Aseptuva; Bottneuro; Comphya SA; Hylomorph; Imito; Leg&airy; OxyPrem; PIPRA; Spirecut and, Positrigo.
Dr Richard Evans, Head of Business Development and Innovation said, “Developing our international work by strengthening our relationship with the Swiss Med Tech sector and wider international partnerships is a key strategic pillar in making the Leeds Innovation arc a Global destination for the successful translation, adoption, scaling and spread of HealthTech innovation.
