The Research Academy uses a programme of short learning bursts. These have been created to provide an optimal ‘bite sized’ learning experience. Each one hour session is topic specific, suitable for multidisciplinary education, or sessions can be tailored to audience needs. Each session is flexible enough to fit around clinical responsibilities.
This model of learning accommodates different teaching and learning styles designed to enhance the education experience. The learning burst model embraces adult learning theory, attention span, learner motivation and is both efficient and flexible (Vaughn, Gonzalez del Rey and Baker 2001).
