Following an appointment with your GP, or with a doctor at a hospital appointment, you may be referred to radiology (often called a scan or imaging). On these webpages you can find out more about the scan you have been referred for, check location details and contact us in case anything changes prior to your appointment.
If your doctor has said that you need to have images to help them diagnose a medical issue for you, then they will send a request to the Radiology team for this scan. Once this request has been reviewed and confirmed that it is the correct imaging for you, our booking team will contact you (by phone or letter) to organise an appointment for you.
Depending on the type of scan you have, the results may not be available straightaway as often a Radiologist or Radiographer (specialist in radiology) will need to review the images and report their findings. Therefore you may find that you will receive the results when you next see the doctor that sent your referral again.
