The Department of Allergy and Clinical Immunology is based at St James's Hospital and offers a comprehensive diagnostic and care service for Leeds and
neighbouring conurbations in West Yorkshire and beyond, serving a population
of 2.5 million people. The centre is the only centre in the UK to be part of the European Reference Network for rare immunodeficiencies, autoinflammatory and autoimmune disorders. The service is maintained by three consultant clinical immunologists, two specialist registrars, two immunology nurse specialists, a specialist pharmacist, health care assistant, two medical secretaries and two clinic clerks.
