Children's Medical Clinics are changing

From the 2nd April 2013 Children's Medical Clinics are changing. Following a process of commissioning we are pleased to announce that we able to offer a stronger patient focussed selection of high quality clinics replacing ChICs clinics. We will be offering a greater number of Rapid Access Clinics, local clinics with a multidisciplinary team for children with complex problems and new general paediatric clinics.

New Children's Assessment Unit

The new Children's Assessment and Triage Unit CAT opened in January 2012, and is based on D-floor Jubilee Wing.

Children are referred 24-hours a day from their GP or Primary Care, or are sent to us for an opinion from the Children's Emergency Department.

We aim to Triage in 15 minutes and for the patient to see a senior Children's Doctor within the hour.

We utilise high quality evidence based pathways of care and have a Senior Nursing and Medical presence. This is delivered through Triage, an Assessment Area and our stabilisation area (PUMA).

CAT is connected to and supported by a short stay ward.
