The Dental Radiology Department at Leeds Dental Institute (Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust) is joined with the University of Leeds Dental School and runs a 9am-5pm outpatients imaging service.

We provide a high quality imaging services to the dental and maxillo-facial services within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, but also to other NHS and Private healthcare institutions from across Yorkshire.

The department performs approximately 20,000 examinations per year using our state of the art equipment in a modern environment.

The department provides a range of imaging examinations depending on the clinical problem. We perform standard 2 dimensional imaging, such as individual teeth, or the whole mouth. If more complex imaging is needed, we perform a range of 3 dimensional imaging to look at the teeth and bones of the face and jaw in great detail.

We also have provision for imaging patients with specialist social or medical needs, which cannot be imaging in the community setting.

Our team of specialist Consultant Radiologists provide a high quality reporting service for all 3 dimensional imaging and referrals from outside the dental hospital.

The department participates and facilitates the education and training for Undergraduate Dentistry students, Dental Nurses, Hygiene and therapy trainees, and undergraduate radiographers.
