Mega lungs at Leeds Kirkgate Market

So, I’m Suzanne Rogerson and I’m the lead nurse for the Leeds Lung Cancer Screening Programme.

So, these giant lungs are here today because we’re raising awareness of the new lung cancer screening programme that’s starting in Leeds later this month.

For the next two years we’re going to be rolling out lung cancer screening across the city. And this is for anybody between 55 and 74 who’s ever smoked – so, smoked in the past or currently smokes. You’ll be sent an invitation for a telephone call to do a risk assessment to see whether you’re at high risk of lung cancer. And if you’re at high risk of lung cancer on that telephone risk assessment, we’ll offer you an appointment in our mobile screening unit for a lung CT scan.

The mobile CT unit is going to move around the city of Leeds, so you’ll find us in different car parks, different Asdas, White Rose Centre, but please wait for an invitation. So, look out for an appointment letter through the post. It could be you or it could be somebody that you know or a member of your family.
