Welcome to Leeds Neurosciences

We are the home to a thriving and active Paediatric Neurosciences department with a national reputation. We receive referrals from the local area, and Paediatric teams from North and West Yorkshire, South Tees, Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire, and North Lincolnshire. We also provide nationally commissioned services and receive referrals from the wider parts of the UK and Ireland.

Care is provided by an integrated team of specialist Paediatric Neurologists, Paediatric Neurosurgeons, Paediatric Neuro-rehabilitation and Allied Health Professionals

What we do

We provide specialist care for the diagnosis and treatment of children’s neurological disorders, who are already under the care of a paediatrician. We have a dedicated neurosciences ward in the Clarendon Wing (ward L52), where children are looked after by specially trained nursing staff and play therapists. We have a team of specialist therapist who are experts in neurorehabilitation. We have close links with the hospital school.

The Neurosciences team includes specialist nurses for hydrocephalus, craniofacial surgery, epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders and spasticity management, (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy – SDR, and intrathecal baclofen). We also have a team of specialist therapists with expertise in neurorehabilitation
