Vascular Nurse Specialist
The Leeds Vascular Department has recently appointed a Clinical Nurse Specialist to support patients and the vascular services throughout Leeds Teaching Hospitals. This exciting and innovative new post is the first of its kind in trauma related services, and offers a unique nurse led experience for patients under our care.
Our Clinical Nurse Specialist, Julie Thackray holds four clinics throughout the week:
- two leg ulcer clinics, held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and
- two claudication clinics on Mondays and Wednesdays.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist role extends beyond clinical duties, with Julie providing ward support on both vascular and non-vascular wards. This provides patients with a point of contact if feel they require further support and advice in dealing with their medical condition. The role of the Vascular Nurse Specialist is evolving and will expand in the future.
