Goldmann Visual Fields

Some members of the Orthoptic team are experts in assessing visual fields using the Octopus, an automated Goldmann perimeter.

A visual field test is a way of recording an area of vision similar to a contour map, from the centre of the eye to the periphery. Patients who require this visual field test are seen either as outpatients or inpatients and are usually referred to us by Ophthalmology, Neurology, Endocrinology or the Stroke team.

An Orthoptist will assess vision, perform the visual field test and report the results and/or give advice to the specialist who made the referral.

This clinic takes place in the Orthoptic and Children's Eye Clinic at St. James University Hospital.
