The Pancreas Services can be broadly divided into 4main streams comprising of: -
- Cancer and Major Resections
- Major complex biliary work
- Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy and Day Case Procedures
- Regional Specialist Services for Pancreas
- Acute Pancreatitis
In-patients
The in-patient service consists of a 32 in-patient bed base located on Ward J82 in the Bexley wing. The ward is shared with the Upper Gastro-intestinal and Pancreas patients. Occasionally our patients will be cared for on another ward, if there is no available beds on the unit. This allows us to treat our patients in a timely manner. We look after 5500 in-patient per annum including both acute and elective patients.
Out-Patients
We run out-patient clinics each week, generally on a Friday, and see approximately 3000 patients a year. We aim to see patients in a timely manner from the time of the referral. The out-patient clinics offer expert advise for pancreatic conditions as well as general surgery.
