The LTHT Playlist

As part of our Trustwide Kindness campaign, we asked colleagues to help us choose the definitive LTHT Playlist – after all, what brings people together more than music?
On World Music Day (20 June 2021) we launched our quest to find the Top 20 tracks of staff and patients. Bringing together a shortlist from the biggest all-time UK chart-toppers and Hospital Radio's most requested, we asked for your votes to determine the Top 20.
After hundreds of votes, as well as opportunities to nominate two of your own personal favourites, the final playlist was set. On Sunday, 12 July, the LTHT Playlist – as chosen by LTHT staff and patients - was aired in all its glory over a two-hour show on Leeds Hospital Radio, and included some selected personal favourites from colleagues.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote, contributed their favourite songs, and told us why music matters to them.

Julian Hartley - Chief Executive
Waterfront by Simple Minds - I attended their gig at Leeds University in March 1984 - a brilliant opening to a great concert by a band at the height of their powers. I was a Sixth Form student at Bingley Grammar School at the time and had an unforgettable evening with my friends.
Ask by The Smiths - This was played as the opening number at my wedding in 1997 - a great tune with typically wry, dark humour ("if it’s not love then it’s the bomb that’ll bring us together") with a stunning arrangement by Johnny Marr.
Jenny Lewis - Director of HR and OD
Blue Skies by Ella Fitzgerald – This was my Dad's favourite song.
By Your Side by Calvin Harris (feat. Tom Grennan) – Just my current favourite bop in the kitchen record!
Clare Smith - Chief Operating Officer
I absolutely love This Isn’t Everything You Are by Snow Patrol, I just love it.
My other fave for dancing around is Red Light Spells Danger by Billy Ocean, can’t listen to that without cranking it up.
