Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is proud to be a member of the Leeds Anchor Network. Created to bring together some of the city’s biggest organisations to deliver more for the people of Leeds.
Anchor institutions are locally rooted organisations such as councils, colleges, universities, hospitals and big businesses with local HQs. We employ hundreds of thousands of people, spend hundreds of millions of pounds, own and manage land and assets and deliver vital services.
We joined the Leeds Anchor Network in 2018 to work alongside other large Leeds-based organisations to provide opportunities for local people through employment and procurement, as well as delivering on our sustainability ambitions. One of our main initiatives has been a targeted recruitment programme, which supported 29 residents from some of Leeds’s most deprived neighbourhoods around our hospitals to secure career opportunities in the Trust. A further 20 people have since been recruited in a second cohort.

The building of our new hospitals – one for adults and a new home for Leeds Children’s Hospital, as well as a new maternity centre – provides us with the opportunity to maximise economic and social impact by targeting employment and skills initiatives in disadvantaged communities.
