I am a Consultant Cardiologist in the Yorkshire Heart Centre. I specialise in investigating and managing patients and families with inherited cardiovascular conditions (ICC) and have a specialist interest and training in heart failure and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging.
In our regional ICC service, we look after patients with a range of hereditary heart conditions including heart muscle, electrical and aortic diseases. I work closely with other cardiologists, geneticists, nurse specialists, sonographers and paediatric colleagues to help manage patients and screen their families for similar conditions.
I report 500 MRIs a year as a consultant in the Leeds cardiac MRI service, scanning patients with a variety of heart conditions, as well as contributing to research in the field.
I have a weekly heart failure clinic and am involved in the investigation and management of acquired heart muscle disease.
I am trained in acute and general cardiology and in transthoracic echocardiography and I look after inpatients with heart problems on-call and on our many cardiology wards.
I have an active interest in research, including a PhD in cardiovascular sciences, and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
