Catherine Hayden joined the specialist reproductive medicine consultant team at Leeds Centre for Reproductive Medicine (LCRM) in November 2010. She is a graduate of the University of Leeds (Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery 1993, Doctorate of Medicine 2001). Her research focussed on polycystic ovary syndrome – both its basic science and clinical therapy, including preliminary work on the use of metformin and its impact on weight control and ovulatory dysfunction.

She continued her post-graduate training in Yorkshire, with an overseas fellowship at Flinders University Hospital, Adelaide, South Australia, working with the late Prof John Kerrin. She successfully completed RCOG-accredited subspecialty training in reproductive medicine & surgery, in Leeds (2009).

She is passionate about patient-centred care and strives to create a collaborative partnership in her management, whilst maintaining an evidence-based foundation through her expertise. She is the Lead for the Fertility Preservation service. Academically, she enjoys teaching and training doctors, embryologists, nurses and patients through local, regional, national and international programs, conferences and charitable events.

She works full time in reproductive medicine and general / emergency gynaecology for the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
