Dr Hamed Nejadhamzeeigilani

Dr Hamed Nejadhamzeeigilani Consultant in Diagnostic and Interventional.

Neuroradiology Dr Hamed Nejadhamzeeigilani is a Consultant Neuroradiologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, working within the Neurosciences team.

His role combines advanced diagnostic imaging with minimally invasive, image-guided treatments for patients with a wide range of brain, spine, and blood vessel conditions.

Neurovascular Treatments Dr Nejadhamzeeigilani provides specialist care for complex blood vessel problems in the brain and spine, including: Brain aneurysms – treated using advanced techniques such as coil embolisation, balloon or stent assistance, and innovative intrasaccular devices.

Stroke

Performing mechanical thrombectomy to restore blood flow in blocked brain arteries.

Narrowed brain and neck vessels

Using angioplasty and stenting to improve circulation.

Brain venous stenting

For patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension, helping to relieve raised pressure around the brain.

Vascular malformations

Treating arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs).

Subdural haematomas

Using middle meningeal artery embolisation to reduce bleeding.

Pre-surgical planning

Embolisation of brain and spinal tumours to make surgery safer with less blood loss.

Spine Treatments

In addition to vascular procedures, Dr Nejadhamzeeigilani also provides treatments for spinal conditions, including:

  • Nerve root blocks – for pain relief in spine-related nerve conditions
  • Vertebroplasty – a procedure to stabilise weakened or fractured spinal bones
  • Bone and disc biopsies – to support diagnosis in patients with suspicious or unclear spinal lesions

Teaching & Research

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Nejadhamzeeigilani is deeply committed to education, training, and academic research.

He’s a Member of the United Kingdom Neurointerventional Group (UKNG) Training, Education and Research Committee.

A Member of the British Society of Neuroradiologists (BSNR) Training and Education Subcommittee.

An Honorary Senior Lecturer at both the University of Leeds and Hull York Medical School.

He regularly supervises MSc students, medical students, and postgraduate resident doctors, and has an established track record as both organiser and faculty for national and international educational workshops and study days for medical students, trainees, and consultant radiologists.

Dr Nejadhamzeeigilani is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists and holds several advanced academic and professional qualifications, including:

  • PGDip in Health Research European Diploma in Neurointervention (EDNI) European Diploma in Neuroradiology (EDiNR)
