Adult Congenital Heart Disease
Heart Disease in Pregnancy
Dr English has been a consultant in LTHT leading the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Team of doctors and specialist nurses since 2006.
The service is now one of the largest ACHD services in the country covering Yorkshire and Humber, and also taking increasing numbers of referrals from around the country and internationally. We offer the full range of diagnostic and treatment options for all ACHD patients, with an active congenital surgical and interventional programme performing around 150 adult surgical and 300 adult interventional cases per year.
Leeds has an active training programme for medical and allied staff in this highly specialised area, training medical staff from around the world.
We provide ACHD out patients clinics on a daily basis, including specialist clinics in obstetric cardiology, pulmonary hypertension, heart failure in ACHD, transition, and electrophysiology.
We are happy to take referrals from regional cardiologists and primary care. In particular we know there are a large number of patients who have had previous cardiac surgery in childhood who are lost to follow up, and we would be happy to re-assess them. We often find additional undiagnosed lesions in this patient group who were initially treated before the advent of echocardiography.
