Francesco Del Galdo is Professor of Experimental Medicine at University of Leeds and Rheumatology Consultant at Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. He graduated with honors in Medicine in Italy where he also obtained the national award of best young Researcher of the Year in 2001.
He specialised in Immunology in 2003 and then moved to the USA where he obtained his PhD and post-doctoral fellowship in Rheumatology. There he specialised in the diagnosis and management of Connective Tissue diseases, in particular, Scleroderma.
Professor Del Galdo moved to Leeds in 2009 to found and lead the NIHR Scleroderma Research Program within the Biomedical Research Centre and the Raynaud’s and Scleroderma clinical excellence centre for Yorkshire and the Humber. He is author of more than one hundred publications on scientific journals and books and he is an internationally renowned leader in his field.
Professor Del Galdo has over a decade of experience in the management of Rheumatological conditions including arthritis, complex auto-immune diseases, fibromyalgia and Raynaud’s Phenomenon. He has been teaching medical doctors in UK and Europe for the past 10 years and he runs a prestigious research program within the Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine focused on personalised medicine for patients at risk of Rheumatic diseases.
