Clinical Speciality: Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI).
Academic: My main area of research is the use of cardiovascular MR in the assessment of ischaemic heart disease (both chronic stable angina and acute coronary syndromes). This includes the development and validation of comprehensive CMR protocols to assess left ventricular function, myocardial perfusion, tissue oedema, viability and coronary artery anatomy. I was Chief Investigator on the landmark CE-MARC study (Lancet 2012) which compared the diagnostic accuracy and cost effectiveness of CMR and SPECT against X-ray angiography.
Other roles: I am Vice-President (Education & Research) of the British Cardiovascular Society (BCS), and President of the BSCMR (British Society of Cardiovascular MR). I am Clinical Director of the Cardiovascular Clinical Research Facility in LTHT.
