We are sad to learn of the death of Rob Burrow. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this time. Rob, together with his wife and our colleague Lindsey, have shown such courage and positivity in living with Motor Neurone Disease. We are grateful for the work they have done to raise the profile of MND and for the hope and community they have given to patients and to staff.
Professor Phil Wood, Chief Executive, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
“Our thoughts go out to Rob’s family and friends. Rob has been an inspiration and beacon of hope for those living and working with Motor Neurone Disease. We are extremely thankful for everything he did to share an honest and open account of living with the disease. His legacy will live on in our new Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease, which we hope will live up to his dream to ensure that every person who walks through the doors feels supported, understood, and never alone.”
Dr Agam Jung, Consultant Neurologist, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
“Every once in a while, someone comes into our lives and makes us see the world differently, leaves an imprint and even makes us look at ourselves in a different way. And so it was with Rob Burrow. From his first consultation he brought his big smile and wry sense of humour and every day since then he has set standards of how to live a full life with acceptance, courage, resilience and dignity. I have the greatest admiration for him, and for his family. I also have so much gratitude. Through sharing his journey, Rob has made the journey of others with Motor Neurone Disease a little less hard and a lot less lonely.”
